He was born in Riga, Latvia, and he trained at the State National Academy. In 2009, during the international competition “Dance City of Spoleto”, he won a full scholarship to the Russian Ballet College in Genoa, under the direction of Irina Kashkova, where he has graduated in 2013.
He was a Soloist in the show “The value of a life” by Alberto Testa, world premiere at the 54th edition of the Festival of Two Worlds and in the show “Le maitre e la ville” with choreography by Micha von Hoecke. In March 2014 he joined the Opera Theatre in Rome as a supplementary Corps de Ballet, under the direction of Micha von Hoecke, even dancing roles as Principal Dancer and Soloist in productions of the 2013-2014 season. In November 2014 he joined the Corps de ballet of the La Scala Theatre and in February 2018 he was promoted to Principal Dancer.
His roles with the Company include “Albrecht” in Giselle, “Slave” in Ballo Excelsior and “Prince Désiré” in The Sleeping Beauty, “Siegfried” in Swan Lake, “Romeo” in Romeo and Juliet, “Basilio” in Don Chisciotte and “Conrad” in Le Corsaire.
He has received several awards including Positano award "Leonide Massine" in 2010 for the high technical and professional quality and “Giffoni Dance Award” in the same year; "Rome in Dance 2011" award; “Napoli Cultural Classic Award” in 2012 and "Amalfi Dance" award as the most promising young dancer; in 2016 the "Danza & Danza Award" as best performer of the season.
He participates in several international competitions, winning the Grand Prix Dance Competition and the MAB award in 2011. In 2013 he won the Tanzolymp Berlin in the section Pas de Deux and the Gold medal at the XII Moscow International Ballet Competition. He is a guest dancer in national and international galas.
